MIT xPRO's Professional Certificate in Technical Project Management program is designed to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel as technical project managers in project-based industries. The program is targeted towards mid-level project managers looking to enhance their existing skills, engineers seeking to add technical project management to their skill set or change their career track, and individuals with a minimum of a bachelor's degree and prior project management experience.
The program covers a wide range of topics and offers key takeaways such as understanding teamwork and performance in technical projects, facilitating high performance across different project standards and methods, evaluating charters and creating plans, employing agile project management, using advanced project management methods for planning and control, leading teams for high performance, and more.
Participants will earn a prestigious MIT xPRO certificate and receive 46 continuing education units (CEUs). They will gain insights and expertise from MIT faculty and guest speakers, explore industry cases to learn about project management methodologies used by top tech organizations, and work on a capstone project applying tools and methodologies to their own organization's project.
The program is divided into three sections: Project Management Fundamentals, Agile Project Management, and Project Leadership. These sections cover topics such as project budgeting, scheduling, resource management, agile project management tools and strategies, risk management, project control, and various project management methodologies.
Additionally, the program offers career preparation and guidance, including assistance with crafting elevator pitches, optimizing LinkedIn profiles, writing resumes and cover letters, navigating job searches, interview preparation, and salary negotiation. Participants may also receive one-on-one career support from Emeritus and introductions to hiring partners, although job placement is not guaranteed.
Throughout the program, participants will explore industry examples and case studies from organizations such as Pratt & Whitney, NASA, and JLL. The program aims to prepare participants for a career in technical project management by providing them with the necessary skills and knowledge.
