The refund policy for MIT xPRO courses and programs depends on whether they are first-party courses or delivered in collaboration with partners (Emeritus and Global Alumni). Here are the details of the refund policy for each:
First-Party MIT xPRO Courses & Programs
For first-party MIT xPRO courses—i.e., those courses not delivered in collaboration with our partners—the refund deadline depends on whether a course was purchased individually or as part of a program bundle.
Individual Course Purchases
For individual course purchases, learners who wish to unenroll and request a refund may do so within one week (7 days) after the course starts. Please note that this refund period does not extend for learners who enroll in a course up to 7 days after the start date of the course.
For example, for a course that begins on a Monday, the following Monday after the start date is the refund deadline for all learners, regardless of when they enroll in the course. Requests received after this deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
Multi-Course Program Purchases
For any course purchased as part of a program bundle, learners may only request a refund within one week (7 days) after the start of the chronologically first course—regardless of whether that course is sequentially first in the program.
For example, if you purchase a four-course program and Course 2 is scheduled to start first, the refund deadline for the full program purchase will be 7 days after the start date of Course 2, because it is the first course you are taking. After this deadline, you will not be eligible to receive a refund of any part of your program purchase.
To submit a refund request for any first-party MIT xPRO course or program, please email us at support@xpro.mit.edu and include your full name, email address, and order number.
Refunds will be credited to the card or PayPal account used when you registered and may take up to three billing cycles to process. MIT xPRO has no obligation to issue a refund after the deadline for any reason.
Third-Party MIT xPRO Courses & Programs
For third-party MIT xPRO courses—those courses that are delivered in collaboration with our partners—the refund policy is set and managed by the collaboration partner.
