To participate in the Model-Based Systems Engineering course, you will need to meet the following technical requirements:
-
Microsoft Excel: You should be able to download and run Excel files with macros. While other software may allow you to view the files, please note that the macros may not function outside of Microsoft Excel.
-
Microsoft PowerPoint: You should be able to download and edit PowerPoint files. There are several programs available that can perform this task.
-
PDF Reader: You should have the ability to download and read PDF files.
Please note that the course does not require substantial coding experience or the use of proprietary coding packages. The focus is on models and methods to manage complex systems.
In terms of software compatibility, the courseware is optimized for current versions of Google Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. It is recommended to use an up-to-date version of Chrome or Firefox for the best experience. If you do not have Chrome installed, you can download it for free from the following link: http://www.google.com/chrome/browser/
It is important to have a stable internet connection to access the course materials, as the videos are only available for online streaming and cannot be downloaded for offline viewing.
Please be aware of any restrictions or firewall settings in your organization regarding content viewing and adhere to your local IT policies when taking the online course. Mobile devices may not provide full support, although many components of the course should still function on such devices.
If you are using a secured machine or network, there may be limitations on downloading, uploading, and sharing content. It is recommended to follow your organization's policies in this regard. MIT has provided special waivers for learners attending their courses in the past if there are restrictions on using Chrome, or you can choose to use your personal/home computer instead.
